The Online Diploma is a full practitioner qualification, giving you the accreditation, certification and skillset to practise as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, with the freedom to train entirely at your own pace. Internationally recognised and accredited, you can train and qualify from anywhere in the world, joining our global community of hypnotherapists.
Approved through the BPS CPD Quality Mark Scheme for the purposes of continuing professional development.
Carefully designed to be equivalent to, and exceed, a live classroom training
As an experienced adult education college, we designed the Online Diploma around the “Flipped Classroom” model. Instead of sitting in a live lecture, you watch it in your own time, then use “classroom” time for questions, discussion, practical exercises and feedback.
It’s the most flexible and effective use of your time and your contact time with a trained tutor, designed to bring you to the same level of skill, knowledge and confidence as a classroom training, so you’re able to practise safely and effectively as a fully accredited hypnotherapist.

What makes the online training work
18 hours of one-to-one tutoring
To make our online training as engaging and effective as the live training, we’ve introduced extensive one-to-one tutoring: a total of 18 hours (worth over £900). Research on one-to-one tutoring shows that the average tutored student can outperform the large majority of students in a classroom, group-learning environment (Bloom, 1984), because your tutor is always working with you at the edge of your learning, known as the “zone of proximal development”. This gives you more dedicated one-to-one contact time with a trainer than the classroom training itself.
All online course tutors are practising, registered Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapists who’ve completed the Diploma, been personally selected by Mark R. Davis, the College Principal, and completed additional training in Hypno-CBT® supervision and coaching.
Free supervised practice sessions, four times a week for 12 months
Nearly half the training involves practical exercises in pairs, as therapist and as client. We run Online Practice Sessions over Zoom, pairing you with another student to practise a script or exercise, with time to discuss and debrief afterwards.
All sessions are supervised by an experienced Tutor Supervisor, on hand to answer questions, offer guidance and observe your practical work. Sessions run for 2 hours, four times a week, across a range of weekday, evening and weekend time slots, giving you access to over 400 hours of supervised practice for your professional development. A minimum number of sessions is required; all are free and included in your course fee.
Level 5 Higher Diploma
Uniquely in hypnotherapy training, our students can qualify with a Level 5 Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, a Customised Qualification accredited by NCFE.
Please note this is an unregulated qualification and not a nationally recognised qualification.
We believe our Level 5 Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy sets a new standard of excellence for the field of hypnotherapy. Many professional registers for counselling and psychotherapy, such as NCIP, require a rigorous Level 5 depth of study for full membership; our Customised Qualification is benchmarked at Level 5 and fully accepted to meet these requirements.
Accreditation
This training leads to the Level 5 Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, an NCFE Customised Qualification. We offer a bespoke, externally accredited Level 5 Diploma in the UK, a standard of excellence for the field of hypnotherapy. Our qualification is benchmarked at Level 5 using national framework descriptors, and is also approved through the British Psychological Society (BPS) CPD Quality Mark Scheme.
In addition to the opportunity to join NCIP, there are several professional membership options including ACCPH, REBHP and FHT, all of which accept our Level 5 qualification via the Online Diploma route. The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) is the largest register of complementary therapists in the UK.
This is a full practitioner training pathway. Once qualified, you’ll be able to join professional organisations, obtain insurance and open a professional hypnotherapy practice. Some organisations, such as GHR or NCH, require additional contact hours (via further courses, workshops and practice sessions) to reach 120 hours in total, though membership of these organisations is not required to be a successful hypnotherapist. Getting started and business support
Many people are, understandably, nervous about setting themselves up in private practice. Should you register for VAT? How do you register as self-employed? And the all-important question: how do you find clients for your new business?

Course duration
You’re enrolled as a student for 12 months, with a year to complete the online course. Completion involves listening to each lesson video; completing exercises and gaining feedback from your volunteers; and, for the full Online Diploma, completing your coaching and supervision hours plus the assessment questions and case studies.
There are approximately 100 hours of video footage, and your 12 months’ access lets you revisit all videos and materials as often as you wish. The training, case studies and written assessment take between 300 and 450 hours in total; we recommend allocating 350 hours as a realistic guide. If you are unable to complete within the 12 months, extensions are available for a fee.
Printed materials
