Mood, Self-Perception, and Emotional Issues

Sometimes it’s a flatness that won’t lift, a shorter fuse than usual, or the sense that you’ve drifted from who you used to be.

These experiences relate to a person’s emotional state, self-image, and interpersonal reactions. They can include a persistent low mood, a loss of self-esteem and confidence, difficulty managing emotions like anger or jealousy, or the impact of relationship issues or major life changes such as heartbreak and menopause, and may also be linked to mood disorders such as depression.

You might recognise some of these:

Anger management

involves learning to identify the signs of escalating anger and employing techniques to control the emotional and physiological response, with the goal of expressing feelings constructively rather than aggressively or violently.

Confidence

is a state of feeling self-assured and certain about one’s own abilities, qualities, and judgment; its lack often manifests as hesitancy or fear of trying new things.

Depression

is a serious mood disorder characterized by persistent sadness and a loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities, often accompanied by changes in sleep, appetite, energy, and concentration.

Heartbreak

is a term for the intense emotional distress, grief, and pain experienced following the loss of a close romantic relationship, a deep disappointment, or the death of a loved one.

Jealousy

is a complex emotion that involves a negative thought and feeling state, encompassing fear of loss, anxiety, and insecurity, typically stemming from a perceived threat to a valuable relationship by a rival.

Menopause

is a natural life transition marking the end of a woman’s reproductive years, which can bring a range of emotional and psychological symptoms – including mood swings, anxiety, low confidence, and difficulty concentrating – alongside the physical changes.

Relationship issues

is a broad term covering a variety of conflicts, challenges, and breakdowns in communication or connection within personal relationships, which can involve feelings of betrayal, poor boundaries, or fundamental incompatibilities.

These patterns can shift, even the ones that feel long-standing.

Hypno-CBT combines the practical, structured tools of CBT with the calming, focused state of hypnotherapy – helping you build steadier thought patterns and a stronger sense of self, working with both the conscious mind and the subconscious habits that keep these patterns going, with the aim of bringing more emotional steadiness, renewed confidence, and a clearer sense of who you are.
